Parth Visrodia competing in national ethics championships with Union College

2013 Dec 4

Parth Visrodia of Diamond Bar, Calif., will compete on behalf of Union College's team at the National Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl Championships in Florida in February.

Visrodia is a biology and economics major in the Class of 2016.

Union College students finished second in the regional championships, held recently at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn. Modeled after the 1960s-era TV "College Bowl," the rigorous academic tournament provides a forum for student teams to examine and debate laws and ethics governing societies. Teams tackled topics such as the ethics of sweatshops in Bangladesh, the criminalization of HIV/AIDS and the obligation of governmental bodies to bury criminals or terrorists.

Union College will join 31 other teams from the United States and Canada.

Union College, founded in 1795 as the first college chartered by the New York State Board of Regents, offers programs in the liberal arts and engineering to 2,100 undergraduates of high academic promise and strong personal motivation. Union, with its long history of blending disciplines, is a leader in educating students to be engaged, innovative and ethical contributors to an increasingly diverse, global and technologically complex society.
